(WIP; not in a game right now so this can vary) ▶ FIRST IMPRESSIONS AND MANNERISMS: Eponine can give you the impression of youth or age, simultaneously or depending on how she meets you. When she's in a good mood her movements are free and spontaneous bordering on reckless -- she skips, dances, climbs, sits the wrong way on chairs, perches -- but she has the marks of hunger -- both literal and emotional -- and hard living about her. She'd like you not to think she's a child, as well. She is very sensitive about being thought young and especially unlearned, but she tends to front at adulthood with a bit of an air. She enjoys looking and being thought pretty, and will flirt and tease if given half the chance. Eponine does not shy from attention, although she knows how to be inconspicuous: she also doesn't shy from a fight, and she can snap from friendly or frightened to vicious or threatening very quickly. She's experienced with prejudgement, so she feels no need to please others in the way she inhabits space. If it suits her needs, however, she can put on a helpless, pleasing persona at a moment's notice. ▶ SOUND: Eponine has a husky, lower voice, partially due to drinking and surviving illness, and partly naturally; it can be a bit surprising coming out of her mouth. When teasing, she's a bit sing-song, and she'll pitch her voice up when trying to appear more childish or less threatening. Eponine isn't a singer, but she can carry a tune, and she'll often hum or sing to herself when doing things. She speaks quickly, and is prone to sharp barks of laughter, warm when she's amused and a little colder when she's angry. ▶ SMELL: Brandy, ink, sweat, iron, amber, wildflowers, rain ▶ TOUCH: Tentative, abrupt and oddly timed. To say that Eponine has not been socialized normally regarding physical touch would be putting it mildly. Though she's teasingly affectionate and easy with meeting people, touch is often a signal that she wants something from someone. That said, what she wants may simply be for that person to like her, or attention, or for someone to get a particular impression from her: an arm around a shoulder, a pluck at the sleeve, a hand tugging theirs are all useful to get people where she wants them to be. 'Ponine is also well aware that physical affection is a barterable good. ▷ internal ▶ POSITIVE TRAITS: Bubbly, determined, canny and has a keen memory, romantic, a loyal friend, a daredevil, stands up for what she believes in. ▶ NEGATIVE TRAITS: Impulsive; little fear of death; enjoys danger to a self-destructive degree. Has trouble with trust. Defines herself by other people (more than she will admit). Falls in love too easily; doesn't know what a healthy relationship even looks like. Very relative moral compass; sees nothing wrong with bamboozling people, especially men, for her own gain. Her thoughts, though tangential, tend to be running at full speed all the time, and contrary to what someone might think, she's very clever and deductive. Eponine is noticing about a hundred things at any given time -- the route she took to get somewhere, changes in the environment or to street signs, the mannerisms that give things away about people.
